Dance Improvisation: methods, motives, community, co-creation


About This Event

Faculty teaching exchange focused on multiple approaches to and implications for improvisation practice and pedagogy.

Schedule:

11:00-noon – Gentle warm-up led by Anne Harris Wilcox

Noon-1:00 – *Caribbean dance session with Kieron Sargeant exploring Orisha dances from Trinidad and Tobago

1:00-2:50 – Lunch followed by a moderated discussion about improvisation pedagogy, performing spontaneous movement and choreographing improv’ structures

3:00-5:00 – *Workshop with Erin Law: "In this two hour session we will root into the soil of somatic knowing to nurture and explore our relationships to authenticity, power, liberation, pleasure, and imaginal endurance within dance improvisation practices."
