Matthew D. Miller is an associate professor of German at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York and a member of the CNY Humanities Corridor Working Groups Re-Imagining the Discipline: German Studies, the Humanities, and the University and Perspectives on Europe from the Periphery. His book The German Epic in the Cold War: Peter Weiss, Uwe Johnson, and Alexander Kluge was published by Northwestern University Press in 2018. He has published articles and book chapters on twentieth- and twenty-first century Germanophone literature and culture, co-edited Watersheds: Poetics and Politics of the Danube River, and is working on a new project on the literature and politics of the first Austrian republic with a focus on Red Vienna.
