Franziska Schweiger

Assistant Professor of German Studies, Hamilton College

Organizer of:

Franziska Schweiger’s areas of teaching and research include 19th- and 20th-century German literature and culture and their intersections with artistic practices. Schweiger is particularly interested in the relationship between the canonical and the quotidian in representations of bourgeois material culture, concepts of new materialism, and the theory of the novel.

Her book project examines references to textiles and textile-production processes as instances in which realist and modernist novels problematize their own production, allowing for new critical perspectives on the novelistic formation of cultural and societal values.

Schweiger received her doctorate in German Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
