Indigenous Land Acknowledgement
As mentioned last month, we took your survey feedback to heart and, today, we share the Corridor’s long overdue Indigenous land acknowledgement. This will appear on our website and other Corridor materials: all Signature Event Organizers also will be asked to open their Corridor events with this recognition. Here is the new statement in full:
- Since location is core to our identity, in name and in practice, the CNY Humanities Corridor acknowledges, with respect, that our 11-institution consortium spans the ancestral lands and waterways of the Haudenosaunee people. Corridor partnerships take place on lands of the nations of the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy, founded at least 1,000 years ago at Onondaga Lake. Central New York remains home to the Haudenosaunee: we acknowledge the ongoing history of dispossession across the Confederacy, and are grateful to live, work, and share ideas on these lands.
Corridor Proposals Update
Thank you to everyone who submitted to our Fall CFP cycle. We received 20 proposals for 48 working group activities, many from new groups, and we’ll be sending out award notifications in the next couple of weeks. Our next proposal deadline is Monday, March 29, 2021: the spring CFP will launch mid-February.
Save the Date! NEH Grants Workshop 3/19/21
On Friday, March 19, 2021 from 10-11:30am, the Corridor will host a grant-writing workshop from the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will be held on Zoom and registration details will be forthcoming in early February. Stay tuned!
Gauging Interest in Possible Spring Corridor Coffee Hour(s)
Based on our Corridor survey feedback, we’re trying to gauge interest in potential Corridor-wide “coffee hour” discussions, which could offer different ways to connect with others across the region (in addition to your Corridor Working Group collaborations). If you’d be interested in participating in such possible occasional offerings, please complete this brief form.
