3:30 PM - 5:00 PM | Public Lecture “Translation Is a Monster—and Other Metaphors”

  • Like Dr. Frankenstein, translators strive to create something that lives and breathes out of spare parts, dearly hoping not to frighten off the villagers with their creation. Daisy Rockwell will discuss her efforts to get a newly reconstructed text to get up and walk, and the many other metaphors that help her think about her craft dealing with Hindi and Urdu texts. This talk is open to the public.
