Queer Public History Today
About This Event
This webinar features a lecture and discussion with Mark Stein, who is the first openly gay person to serve as President of the Organization of American Historians, the largest professional society for scholars and teachers of U.S. history. Mark will be talking about his book, Queer Public History: Essays on Scholarly Activism, and our current moment. After our lunch and discussion with Marc, Tamar Carroll of the RIT History Department will give an update on the "Picturing Equality: Lambda Network at Kodak" exhibition, which will be on view at George Eastman Museum June 27-Nov. 8, 2026, in particular the public programming that is planned for this summer and fall. The Lambda Network was the LGBTQ employee network that formed at Kodak's Rochester headquarters in the early 1990s to support queer workers and advocate for more inclusive policies and workplace cultures.
