L.P. Coladangelo: From Description to Data: The Digital Scriptorium Catalog and the Role of Smart Data in Manuscript Studies

About This Event

L.P. Coladangelo (College of Communication and Information, Kent State University, and Digital Scriptorium) will join us for a hybrid talk and discussion about the opportunities and challenges of linked data and premodern collections. Drawing upon the work of Digital Scriptorium, which builds upon the WikiProject Manuscripts Data Model, Coladangelo will discuss the importance of linked data models and domain-informed ontology design in order to expand access to manuscripts across institutions and platforms. The event will include opportunities for discussion with metadata professionals, Along with the talk, across September 16-18, we will hold digitization lab and multispectral imaging demonstrations, collection visits and curator talks, and discussions about curating data.
