VAC21: Crossing Cultures through Film

About

We will use international films as a way to make our students more aware of cultural communication norms and behavior in different societies. Buttny will be teaching the undergraduate course at Syracuse, “Intercultural Communication,” and Yuan will be teaching a new undergraduate course at Cornell, “Crossing Cultures through Film.” The films would complement the course readings and provide contextual detail for the cultural situations provided in the films. Funding would allow us to purchase films and pay a stipend to scholars from other societies (e.g., India) to comment on films via Zoom from their own culture.
