About

Our group advances the study of race, gender, and migration in Spain. Recent demographic changes have spurred social movements and a vibrant cultural scene centered on identity and belonging. We welcome anti-racist, feminist, and queer approaches.

Collaborative Goals

Recent demographic changes in Madrid have spurred new social movements including feminist, queer, decolonial, and anti-racist activism. Over the past 11 years, the publishing industry has witnessed a boom of authors of color writing anti-racist non-fiction, poetry, and autobiographies. Given the relativeness newness of these works and social movements, much of our work will be field defining. Our goals include providing forums for scholarly dialogue across the corridor through reading groups, writing groups, invited lectures, pedagogy, and translation workshops. Our work will culminate in a biannual symposium--open to the public--bringing together scholars, artists, and community partners invested in questions of race, gender, and migration in contemporary Spain.
