Collaborative Goals
The objective of this group is to foster collaboration among scholars of Latin American and Caribbean decolonial theory and critical thought, broadly construed. It seeks to bring together established and emerging scholars in the field working in Central New York universities. It holds regular informal meetings to present and discuss recent contributions to the field and fosters an interdisciplinary community of researchers motivated by a common disciplinary commitment to examine and question the effects of Colonialism and its aftereffects in Latin American and Caribbean societies, histories, and cultural production.
The group consolidates a formal space to host and promote scholars in the field that it deems of broader value to the humanities and share their pedagogical insights for approaching these topics in the classroom. It intends to accomplish this by hosting invited guest lectures and symposia in Corridor–affiliated institutions, bringing together experts in the field who have made significant contributions to its areas of interest. In this manner, it seeks to bring decolonial theory and critical thought from Latin America and the Caribbean to larger audiences of university students, faculty, and community activists of Central New York.
