Collaborative Goals
The CNY Enhanced Theater Practices & Community Working Group will create a space for individual group members to explore and exchange theater methodologies. The proposed scope of the Working Group's activities will cover a three-year period, culminating in artistic encounters seeking to positively impact communities throughout Central New York. The sharing of group members' praxes will also be enhanced by the Working Group's collective investigation into the historic mission and practices of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards, an international theater research center formerly based in the Tuscany region of Italy, that was shuttered in 2022. The effective research of the Workcenter's Open Program team found great success in shaping intercultural encounters with various communities throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. The mission of the Workcenter's Open Program team continues on with two theater companies based in Italy, Hospites Teatro and Accademia dell'Incompiuto, whose members will visit the CNY Enhanced Theater Practices & Community Working Group beginning in the second year of our collaboration.
