Works-in-Progress Workshop
About This Event
This is a daylong workshop of four pre-circulated papers at a stage in which they are primed for feedback. A commentator will provide ten-minute opening remarks, followed by extensive discussion by all attendees. Participants in the workshop include two graduate students, an assistant professor, and an associate professor, ensuring a collaborative environment for scholars at various stages of their careers. This first activity will provide all of us with an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the kind of work others in our group are pursuing and to highlight professionalization for graduate students in presenting work-in-progress in a fairly low-stakes setting. We will provide both breakfast and lunch, to give participants time to informally discuss work and to get to know senior colleagues and receive advice on fellowships, archives, and university presses.
