Experiencing Latin American Music


About This Event

In this seminar, Dr. Carol A. Hess (University of California, Davis) will discuss her work on the interactions between U.S. American and Latin American music, including the cultural, ideological, political, and sociological aspects of those interactions. Her focus will be on pedagogy, her process to write the textbook "Experiencing Latin American Music," and how the label "Latin American music" can/should be questioned and unpacked when teaching this content to undergraduates.
